The Rise of Hazelwood: Inside Pretoria’s New Live, Work and Play Destination
Workshop17 Is Arriving at the Perfect Time
From Lifestyle Hotspot to Thriving Business Precinct
It feels like yesterday that we sat down at the newly opened Lucky Bread Company in Hazelwood and signed the lease agreement with Paul Keursten that would bring Workshop17 to the precinct.
At the time, we knew Hazelwood was special. But seeing the momentum that has built since then makes the timing of Workshop17 feel even more exciting. Hazelwood is quickly becoming Pretoria’s most exciting live, work and play precinct.
Pantry has opened its doors. Bendehuis has settled beautifully into the neighbourhood and recently walked away with two prestigious awards at the 2026 SAPOA Property Development Awards for Excellence: Best Commercial Development and the Heritage Award. Charl Bruyns and the BetterHome Group LTD team are now based in the precinct. Jean Engelbrecht’s Stellenbosch Wine Bar has recently opened and has already been incredibly well received. Brands like Jasper Eales and Mike Schlebach''s Sealand Gear have also joined the neighbourhood, while the growing HOKA running community continues to bring even more energy to the streets of Hazelwood. There is a real sense that something is happening here. And now Workshop17 is becoming part of that story.
From Monday, 12 October, the FANDA team starts shopfitting the second storey of the Workshop17 Hazelwood building, bringing us another step closer to opening the doors.
Even more exciting is the calibre of businesses already signing leases to call this building home.
We believe that great precincts are about much more than buildings. They are about creating places where people want to spend their time. Places to live, work, eat, meet, run, collaborate and build businesses. Hazelwood is becoming exactly that. And Workshop17 is arriving at exactly the right time. We can’t wait to show you what’s coming.
