BRKLYN RUN
Community, Coffee, and Winning the Week
Win the week
What started as a shared vision between Chané, Mack, and Heinrich has quickly grown into a thriving core group. Born unofficially in January 2024, BRKLYN RUN took the Pretoria running community by storm just weeks later. The initiative was created as a space to give back to the community that has served the founders for so long, eventually leading to a natural partnership with BOW+ARC and Volley.
The philosophy behind the club is simple: 'It always gives more than it takes.' This mantra summarizes the impact of community and shared love for collective values. By choosing an early Monday morning slot, the club leans into its catchy slogan 'Win the week'—if you can start your week right with community and coffee, there isn't anything you aren't capable of doing.
Surrounding yourself with people who are different but share the same goal is the secret to their success. From the joyful baristas at Platō and Brooklyn Café to the car guards and the core team, everyone brings a different strength to the table to create something truly life-giving.
The shift toward social running clubs reflects a post-pandemic change in perspective. Many young adults and students are moving away from traditional, performance-heavy clubs in favor of spaces where they can incorporate health and social interaction into their daily lives without the pressure of competition.
While BRKLYN RUN remains a social space for building relationships, they maintain strong ties to registered marathon clubs for those ready to take more serious steps in their running journey. Through community members and demo runs, participants also gain exposure to various gear and training plans, blending the beauty of social connection with practical support for the sport.
